Lymph liquid is all free liquid in tissues and lymph vessels make a way for removing surplus liquid from inter-cell spaces and tissues. Lymph circulaction is permanent and it always goes from the periphery towards the body centre. In certain diseases and conditions as well as due to inadeqaute life style slowing down or stoppage of lymph circulaction may happen. It brings to swelling, accumulating of toxins, poorer tissue nutrition, fall of organism defense ability and lowered resistance to diseases.

The aim of lymph drainage is to stimulate circulation, i.e. to enable removing surplus liquid from inter-cell spaces by means of lymph system and lymph  nodes into venous system and circulation. In this way, swellings are removed, circulation is improved, organism is detoxicated, better nutrition and regeneration of tissues is achieved, as well as immune system strengthening.
Lymph drainage is carried out by manual or apparatus techniques (presotherapy)

This procedure is applied in lymphedemas of various etiology, after injuries with swellings and hematomas, for joint distortions, after fractures. For cosmetic purposes, in slimming treatment, prevention or treatment of cellulite.

 

Diseases and conditions in which lymph drainage is not recommended are as follows:  acute inflammations, malignant tumors, tuberculosis, thrombosis and thrombophlebitis, heart decompensation, hyperthyreosis, birthmarks.
