THYROID MALIGNENT DISEASES REGISTRED IN THE REGION ON PROKUPLJE
Abstract: Thyroid nodules have often been found in a clinical practice. The prevailance in the general population is approximately 4%, while in the separated women population it is over 6% (Trbojevic 1994.). The percentage of malignancy in all thyroid noduses is from 3.5% to 30%, depending on the definition and the criterion for an operation. The patients of endocrine clinic and Onkological clinic have been examined in the Health Center in Prokuplje. The diagnosis has been made according to pathohistological findings and the return findings after the operation in related institutions. The aim of the paper is looking into the frequency of the thyroid gland cancer in Toplica. In the very town of Prokuplje, the pervailance of the thyroid gland disease is 2.12, respectively 4.6, which is an extremely high pervailance of the disease. The percentage of the presence of nodular thyroid glands is also high 40%. The percentage of the presence of the presence of thyroid gland cancer compared to other malignant deseases is 0.87 to 2.27%. The thyroid gland cancer is more often found with women, and it is more frequent after the age of forty. The one which is most frequently found is the papillar tumor of thyroid glands. The number of operated patients is insufficient if all the medical indications for nodular goiters operations are to be respected.
